Planning and launching a successful business takes time. And if you are depending on the money from your new business to replace your current earnings immediately... don't. Start building your business by laying the proper foundation, by developing and implementing the systems for success without the added stress of needing to land a client NOW.

Plan for Success

So if you want to start your business step one begins in your mind. Plan for success while you still have the means to pay the bills. Don't put yourself in a position to feel or be desperate. Your potential clients feel that. It's your job to make sure that you have what you need personally survive and then plan to thrive, not your (potential) client's.

As a business owner, you need to understand the importance of planning strategies especially finances and budgeting. So if you want to start planning your business as a business. Ideally, you need to have at least 6 months to years worth finances in place to sustain your lifestyle. If you don't, you're probably going to be putting a significant strain on your business.

How To Get Started Now

If you want to start, start where you are with what you have. I know personally, if I let too many ideas sit in the storage of my mind, scatterbrain can set in. I can't complete a single thought without that thought getting cut off by another thought.⠀I don't know if that happens to anyone else, but when you are thinking about starting a business, there are a million things to think about. So my first bit of advice is to get it off your mind and onto the page.⠀Get it all out of your head and onto the paper, laptop, document, voicenote.. whatever works for you.

Next, start investing in your business by learning what you need to know. Start learning your potential clients. Start identifying your ideal clients. Start to study them. If you want to know more about who your ideal client is and why that information is so important, you can read more about that here.

What If You've Already Left Your Job

If you have already left your job and have no source of income then I would say that step one is to find a source of income. Get back into the income game.  Get to work looking for clients. A key ingredient to being a successful entrepreneur, a successful business owner, is the drive to make it happen, create the solution.

Other options you should consider include applying for freelancing jobs. You can look on task rabbit, Upwork, Guru and other freelancer sites. You should also consider part-time jobs, per diem jobs… you've got to make it work because your business can’t survive or thrive without income.

Either way, you need to know how much you need in order to sustain and elevate your current income status so let's take a good hard look that.  Sign up to have the free tutorial on how to set your services provider rates delivered directly to your inbox.
